Pastel Event Rentals: How to Style a Soft, Sun-Drenched Outdoor Celebration

Trends and Inspiration

event rental company nashville

Pastel event rentals work because they don’t try too hard. Soft blues, blush pinks, sage greens, and lilac tones complement natural light rather than compete with it. A well-styled pastel event feels effortless in the best way, like the setting and the design were always meant to go together! At Southern Events, we carry pastel event rentals across every category, from linens and china to lounge furniture and glassware.

How to Build a Soft, Light Color Palette for an Outdoor Event

Start with one anchor color and let the others support it. A sage-forward palette might lean into Sage Chiavari Chairs and a Sage Franklin Bar as the grounding elements, then layer in blush and ivory at the table level to keep the palette from feeling flat. A blue-forward palette might anchor with Bloom and Vine Tablecloths in Blue and build outward with soft pink and white accents.

The goal is a palette that reads cohesive without being too matchy. Pastels sit close enough on the color spectrum that mixing two or three tones feels natural rather than chaotic. The key is keeping the value consistent. All soft, all light, all airy. One overly saturated piece can pull the whole design off balance.

Can you mix pastel tones across different rental pieces?

Yes, and it’s actually the most effective approach! A single pastel tone across every rental piece tends to look flat, unless you’re going for a modern monochromatic look. Mixing sage, blush, and soft blue across linens, china, glassware, and furniture creates the kind of layered, sun-drenched look that photographs beautifully outdoors. The tones don’t need to match as much as they need to belong to the same family.

The Table

The table is where a pastel palette has the most surface area to work with! Explore how layering can bring depth to an outdoor event table.

Linens

Linens set the foundation. The Rose Santorini Stripe Tablecloth is one of our favorite outdoor pastel options. The stripe pattern adds movement, and the rose tone photographs warmly in natural light. The Lilac Poly Tablecloth is a softer, more understated option that works well as a base when the china and glassware are doing more of the design work. For a velvet moment that still reads light, the Light Pink Velvet Tablecloth adds texture and a quiet richness that suits evening events and covered outdoor settings.

Napkins are an easy place to introduce a second pastel tone. Try our Costa Nova Cotton Napkins in Cornflower or Sky Blue, or the Lucia Frayed Napkins in Blush or Sage. A pop of blush on a white floral tablecloth or a sage napkin on a rose stripe creates a color pairing that feels fresh and fun.

China and Chargers

This is where the picture really comes together. The Emmie Flora China with its subtle hints of pink and blue is one of the most naturally pastel-friendly china patterns we carry. It works beautifully on the White Antique Dining Table with a soft runner layered beneath it. The Coronado China offers a bolder pop of blue with gold accents. It’s a chic choice that pairs well atop lighter blue hues or crisp whites.

For chargers, the Darcy Bone China Charger with its delicate scalloped edge is a natural fit. It adds a soft, feminine layer beneath the dinner plate without introducing color that competes with the rest of the design.

Glassware

What glassware pairs well with pastel event design?

Clear and lightly tinted glassware both work well with pastel palettes, for different reasons. Clear glass keeps the look light and airy, which is usually the goal outdoors. The Amalia Sage Water Goblet introduces a soft green tone without adding visual weight. The Belle Blue Wine Glass is a smoky shade with a classic silhouette. And the Peony Pink Deco Tumbler adds a playful, colorful moment that works especially well at trendy bridal showers and dinner parties.

The Seating

Seating is one of the easiest places to introduce a pastel moment, or to keep things neutral and let other elements carry the color.

Sage Chiavari Chairs are one of the more distinctive seating choices for a pastel outdoor event. The sage finish reads warm and organic in natural light and pairs naturally with blush and ivory linens. For a tablescape that needs to stay visually clean, Acrylic Ghost Chairs let the linen and china lead. They disappear into the setting while keeping the seating elevated.

And if you’re hosting an event with little ones in attendance, we carry Pink Chiavari Children’s Chairs that fit right into the palette. They’re a sweet detail that guests always notice.

The Lounge

A lounge area at a pastel outdoor event should feel like the softest corner of the room. Light furniture, warm textures, and a few carefully chosen accents are all it takes.

The Ashleigh Pink Sofa is one of our most photographed pieces for this setting. Its blush upholstery fits naturally into a pastel palette. Or, feature our cream sofa with pastel accent pillows in options like Sweet Pea Floral and London Fog. Either direction keeps the lounge feeling light and inviting rather than heavy.

The Sage Blush Rug is a natural anchor for the lounge grouping. The two-tone colorway ties directly to the broader palette and grounds the furniture without adding visual weight. Pair it with the Ellison Coffee Table for a light, airy surface that keeps the open quality of the setting intact. A Blue Cordless Tabletop Lamp on the coffee table or a nearby surface adds a soft ambient layer as the afternoon moves into evening.

Soft Colors, Thoughtfully Done

A pastel palette done well looks effortless. Getting there takes a bit of intentionโ€”and knowing which pieces work together!
