Our Favorite Wedding Plate Pairings from Modern to Moody

Southern Events Products

wedding plate rentals and ideas

If you ask us, the right plate is what brings the whole table together. Whether you’re dreaming of something romantic, contemporary, or a little bit bold, your place settings complete the look. And while we’re always fans of mixing and matching, there’s something extra satisfying about a curated wedding plate pairing that just works. From light and breezy to dramatic and moody, these combinations from the Southern Events inventory are ideal for weddings of all styles—and yes, we’re answering the question: How much does it cost to rent wedding plates? (Spoiler: it’s more affordable than you think.)

Light & Natural: Gwyneth + Walnut Rattan

There’s something about this pairing that feels like a fresh-air garden party. Our Gwyneth Glass Plate adds soft texture and shimmer, while the Walnut Rattan Charger grounds the setting with natural warmth. This combo is a go-to for outdoor weddings and vineyard venues, especially when paired with pastel linens and fresh greenery.

Soft Neutrals: Alabaster + White Washed Rattan

The Alabaster Earthen China brings a soft, artisanal vibe to the table. Layered over a White Washed Rattan Charger, this look feels light, effortless, and just a little bit earthy. Great for neutral-loving couples and understated tables with linen or gauze runners.

Elegant & Glam: Ophelia + Darcy Bone

Love a little drama? This is your moment. Our Ophelia China features a stunning gold rim and intricate detailing, and the Darcy Bone China Charger tones it down with scalloped edges and a creamy finish. Together, they give off major European estate wedding energy; no castle required.

Romantic & Refined: Darcy + Belmont

This classic combo is a favorite for a reason. The Darcy China pairs beautifully with the Belmont Beaded Edge Charger for a look that’s sweet but sophisticated. Add floral napkins or vintage glassware to personalize the palette.

Garden-Inspired: Liana + Darcy Bone

For a floral moment without the fuss, try Liana China with its soft green pattern, layered over a Darcy Bone Charger. It’s a subtle nod to nature that still feels upscale, perfect for spring weddings or venues with lots of natural light.

Modern Mood: Onyx + Onyx

We love a matchy-matchy moment—especially when it’s this sleek. The Onyx Earthen China with its coordinating matte charger brings major moody minimalism to the table. Add black flatware and a velvet napkin for an editorial finish.

Warm & Whimsical: Marigold + Scalloped Wood

This pairing is pure personality. Our Marigold Cabo China pops against the Scalloped Wood Charger, creating a warm, golden-hour glow at each place setting. It’s a great choice for boho weddings, Southwestern themes, or any event that doesn’t shy away from color.

Under the Big Top delivered 🎪 Loved being part of this one with @vintageaffairtn. Bold linens, statement furnishings, and a room that fully committed to the bit.

Hard to argue with the visuals. 🍹

Glassware tends to get finalized late in the rental process and it's one of the details that guests interact with more than almost anything else at an event. Every person at a cocktail hour is holding a glass for the better part of an hour. That's a long time for a rental decision to either elevate or undercut the rest of the setup.

The best weddings have a thread running through them.

This one carried it from the ceremony rows to the reception table — soft, light, and unhurried. Sage accents in the glassware and napkins, scalloped china that added just enough character 🤍

A charger plate never holds a single bite of food. And yet it might be the most important thing on the table. 🍽️

One charger choice can shift the entire tone of a tablescape before a guest ever sits down. We broke down exactly why — link in bio.

The tables that look simple usually aren't. ✨
Earthen Alabaster China and Santorini Stripe Napkins — the kind of details guests notice once they sit down.

A lounge area isn't just extra seating. It's where the party actually lives. ☀️

Guests need somewhere to land between the dance floor and the dinner table. A well-placed lounge gives them that — and keeps the energy moving instead of stalling. Worth thinking about before the floor plan is finalized.
