Wedding 101 is always at the very forefront of our favorite new wedding trends! This style shoot by Stan Dunlap Photography captured some fantastic images of a few of our rentals. Featuring our Vintage Ivory Lace Linen, Wooden Chargers, Natural Hemstitch Napkins, Shangri La Faux-Silk Napkins and Vintage Heirloom China, this style shoot had an elegant yet laid back vintage feel, indoors and out!

Colin Cowie said it best- “Without a doubt, the ultimate icon for a wedding is the cake! It’s the crowning glory, or the pièce de résistance of any wedding. For most of my brides, no matter how small or large the budget, it lives right up there in importance with “the dress.” In recent years, wedding desserts have evolved to become more than just a cake. It is a total visual and gastronomic fantasy of desserts. The dessert table of today is not your mother’s Viennese Table. It has become an art form. Done correctly, it goes far beyond displaying the wedding cake, acting as both décor and a wow moment all wrapped up for a sweet and happy ending.

Fondant or frosting, vanilla or chocolate, decadent dessert bar or voluminous cake- the ‘pièce de résistance ‘ for your event is a chance to show who you are and what you love!

If you’re looking for an elegant and refined feel to your dessert table, 100 Layer Cake recently dedicated a whole blog to different looks for modern cakes. A few of our favorites are pictured below.

But don’t feel confined by a traditional cake if you and your loved one are more free-spirited! Preston Bailey recommends something more whimsical and fun- reminiscent of childhood days. These sophisticated sundaes, plated individually, are an ice cream lover’s dream.

Or, you can have your cake… and everything else you love! The fantastic thing about a dessert bar at your reception is that there really are no rules. For a touch of traditionalism, you can have a tiered cake; for a fun and more hands-on feel, you can add any of your favorite desserts. The Ruffled Blog shows a dessert bar below that fulfills any sweet tooth, including cupcakes, brownies and pies.

Whichever look and feel you are drawn to for your event, Southern Events has a wide array of cake plateaus and cupcake/dessert stands to choose from!

Want some great ideas for a stylized farm wedding? Style Me Pretty recently did a fantastic bohemian style wedding featured on their blog and we LOVE it! Who knew that bright florals, rustic wood tables and black lace could be paired together perfectly? Check out this innovative blog here for some great ideas. Move over cowboy boots, princess-style glam is taking over the rustic barn venue!

You too can take this New York style and transform it into a perfect Tennessee wedding with some of our great rentals at Southern Events.

To dress up a minimal dinner setting, our Round Fine China adds just the right touch of class! You can’t go wrong when it’s paired with our Abby Fine Silver Flatware.

Our glamorous Ivory Pintuck linen and Carly Water Goblet really dress up this sweet and simple rose centerpiece.

Our Carriage Lantern stands make a great display for some colorful and simple flowers near a ceremony space! Above, our Moroccan Lantern adds a touch of drama to a simple table setting.

We have added two wonderful rustic items to our inventory at Southern Events, Rustic Benches and Farm Tables. Rented together, these items make the perfect pair, especially to compliment your outdoor barn or farm venue wedding! If you would rather pair chairs with the farm tables, we’ve got you covered with our rustic Cross-Back Chairs.

If you’re looking for a more casual centerpiece, our Heirloom Mix Matched China pairs beautifully with our new Vintage Handkerchiefs. Available in a wide array of colors, these items really pop when paired with the Farm Tables and Oatmeal Runners.

There’s nothing quite as eye catching as a good dose of a bold look like red and white or blue and white. Some couples choose these colors to be patriotic, others just happen to have a favorite shade of blue or red they choose to incorporate in their event. Whatever the reason may be, there are many gorgeous looks that can be achieved when you choose a bold theme. This event took place at Lillie Belle’s in Historic Downtown Franklin last year and features some gorgeous shots of our rentals from Sara Gibbs Photography.

Joe Hendricks Photograpy caught some shots of a dramatic event at The Factory in 2011. The red really popped against the white linens and chair covers!

Last summer we were able to feature some of our rentals at a Legacy Farms photo shoot with Kristyn Hogan Photography. Our Red and White Check linens go well when paired with some summery Mason Jars and classic White Wood Folding Chairs!

Style Me Pretty has some fantastic ideas for Farm Tables at your event. For example, these tables pictured below feature brown butcher paper as table runners! You can dress it up or dress it down – these farm tables are super versatile! Don’t believe us? Check out some of the looks below.

For a more sophisticated look, chiavaris chairs can really add an elegant aspect to a simple farm table. This Massachusetts wedding featured on Style Me Pretty also features items that are familiar to our inventory, like our new Whiskey Barrels!

The Pink Book recently did a blog on us featuring some pictures from the Pink Bride Bridal Show this January. We went for a canopy look using burlap as curtains and our burlap-like “Oatmeal” Runners on our table. Classic and timeless, this look emphasizes a more traditional barn wedding look! Our Farm Tables have been a big hit with Southern Brides and are being booked quickly for spring and summer weddings so book soon if you are interested! Here is a link to the item on our website!

One of my very favorite rentals would have to be the Emerald Green Reception Plates, shown below for a bridal shower at CJ’s Off the Square! These opaque spring green plates really create a fantastic and fresh statement, especially when they are complimented by our Panama Lime Green Pindot Linens. This Spring look was completed with some of our White Wood Folding Chairs and some centerpiece arrangements that almost looked good enough to eat! JHenderson Studios did a fantastic job of capturing the rich colors and textures at this shower.

We recently had the opportunity to do a style shoot with our good friends Amy & CJ at Williamson County Weddings! Set at Legacy Farms, Kristyn Hogan caught some amazing shots of a country themed tablescape. Featuring our White Wooden Folding Chairs, Red and White Check Linen and a few refreshing glasses of lemonade in our Mason Jars, this is a perfect 4th of July salute to the USA!
