Our gorgeous Narnia inspired photo shoot from earlier this year has us longing for cooler weather!  We team up with Southern Soriee to create a wintry setting for a couple with a flair for the dramatic. For just the right amount of glimmer, our Mercury Glass really pops on top of our Farm Tables.  The rustic setting creates the perfect atmosphere for creativity- and we LOVE the feel the photographer captured in this set. Cool, crisp, rustic, elegant- Narnia is the best word to describe the otherworldly feel of this shoot. When you chose your placecards, we recommend a scripted cursive to bring out the delicate side of mercury glass. Our Belmont Chargers with silver beaded edges compliment the assorted mercury glass votives keeping an elegant feel integrated in this vintage look.

As with most settings, the more lighting, the better! We have a wide variety of tabletop lighting available to rent to suit all of your unique event needs. If you’re looking for the perfect vintage addition to the farm tables, we recommend our Cross-back Chairs or our Constance Chairs, which are pictured below. Our Abby Fine Silverware finalizes the look with swirling delicate silver patterns that perfectly adorn the tabletop.

Thanks to Jessie Holloway for her awesome pictures you see below of this unique and fun shoot – Enjoy!

We love to think back on the sweet couples we have helped over the years – so many are still good friends and others now work for us!   Chelsea married her sweetheart last fall in a gorgeous wedding and Southern Events was thrilled to help plan her special day.  So thrilled, in fact we hired Chelsea to join the Southern Team as our Client Relations Specialist a mere six weeks before her wedding!  While she celebrates her one year wedding anniversary in a few short days, we also need to wish her a belated happy one year with Southern Events as well!

But we digress… their wedding was really something.

The couple envisioned a simple and elegant space on her wedding day, surrounded by their many friends and family members.  Their ceremony was simple and gorgeous, with the guests’ chairs circling the couple in a field under the open sky.  For the reception space, we used our wooden farm tables and cross-back chairs, mixed with traditional round banquet tables and fruitwood chairs, to create a relaxed and comfortable space where having a good time was mandatory.  The chalkboard backdrop was a spectacular focal point, created by the mother of the bride.  Even a year later, it’s exciting to re-live the details of one of our favorite weddings!

Credit goes to Matt Andrews for the amazing photos from Chelsea and Chris’s wedding you see below.  My how fast a year goes – we look forward to celebrating Chelsea’s anniversary with Chris and Southern Events for many more years to come!

Dressed to the nines and packed to the rafters – we had a fantastic time as part of the Nashville Venue Crawl that took place on August 4th. Brides, grooms and family members took turns being transported to each of the participating venues in Nashville. Featured locations included Ruby, the Bridge Building, Oz and Houston Station.

We were happy to showcase some of our favorite rentals in some of our most creative and eye-catching ways at Houston Station! Amy Nicole captured some amazing shots that really brought out the vivid colors and textures of the rentals we displayed inside the spacious warehouse venue for this preview event.

Various vignettes were spread throughout – they have tons of space for fun and creative displays! In the “Bohemian Glow” area, our new Whitewash Farm Tables set the scene for a wonderful pop of purples with linens highlighting our vintage mix-match Heirloom China. Our Greta Couch was the perfect size to create a seating area for guests and visitors at the event, while our Barnwood Couch and Coffee Table complimented the whitewash look, perfect for more rich purple and pink hues giving a subtle opulence to the display. We integrated one of our favorite new styles – Chevron!- into our navy and gold reception set up. Preppy Chic is a look that we simply adore, and can be achieved easily with a base color like navy and a bold pattern like gold chevron. With a switch to Mod Glam, our center lounge area set up featured a beautiful demure shade of coral, dressed up with accents of silver and just the right amount of bling.

The Venue Crawl could not have been possible without the fantastic help from the following vendors, we love you guys!

Southern Events Party Event, Bohemian Vintage at Houston Station

CJ’s Off the Square is located just walking distance away from historic downtown Franklin, one of Tennessee’s oldest and most historically rich and beautiful areas. Our time with CJ’s started when we had our original showroom located upstairs in the historic home- and what a fun and bustling place to work it was! Even though Southern Events has moved into a new location, our relationship with CJ’s has continued as we provide the venue with all of their chair, linen, place setting and and decor rental needs. We love working with CJ’s and always feel that our rentals work naturally with the available space in this historic home and gardens.

CJ, Amy and the rest of the staff make excellent use of the interior home, exterior gardens and pavilion that have been restored to preserve all the historic beauty created when the home was originally built in 1911. Featuring a koi pond, the gardens boast a wide array of flowers and greenery along with a gazebo as a ceremony space, while the covered pavilion comfortably seats up to 135 guests. For all pre-wedding activities, a quick trip down the stairs to the wine cellar reveals a fully functional retreat for the groom and groomsmen with large screen TVs, poker table and bar area, while the bridal suite located upstairs is breathtaking, chic and luxurious. This venue has a wide array of packages to fit many different needs from weddings and beyond, and frequently hosts social parties and rehearsal dinners. From event planning to invitations to day of assisting, CJ’s staff is not only full-service, but has many years of experience in the industry. You can be assured an event at CJ’s of the Square puts you in fully capable hands to flawlessly execute all details of your big day!

For more information or to book a tour, please visit their site here. We would like to thank The Collection, Chris and Adrienne Scott, Evin Photography and Erin Lee for the wonderful photos showcasing this beautiful garden venue!

Today we’re featuring an elegant vintage inspired rehearsal dinner – the couple’s vision and our inventory were a match made in heaven – second only to their love for each other!  Even as this trend has evolved over the season, we still find it creates a timeless look for many of our brides.  For this couple, we paired delicate glass plates with our whimsical vintage floral handkerchiefs-turned-placements creating a romantic tablescape with a feminine vibe.  Fun and versatile,  our handkerchiefs are just lovely for use as dinner napkins, cocktail napkins, place mats, bread basket or tray liners.  And Southern Events has a large inventory to suit your needs!

Vintage books, bottles and mason jars atop our oatmeal linen runner combined for their centerpieces.  This linen is a great alternative to burlap – durable and soft, it doesn’t create the mess and allergies from fraying burlap.  The creative vision of layering the mason jars and bottles creates interest and texture – further adding to the vintage feel.  And the stacked vintage books create a statement along with a conversation piece for your guests – including a  favorite book or volumes on love and romance to the display adds  personal and creative touch that are perfect for the occasion!

Of course we have to thank to Krystal Mann for the gorgeous photos – her talent is stunning as we love featuring her pictures!  Enjoy!

White Wash Farm Tables

Being that our traditional farm tables have been such a hit since we were the first to have them in stock last year, the Southern Events Team is super excited to introduce our new babies – White Wash Farm Tables. With room to seat 8-10 guests, we recently showcase these new tables to area brides at the Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Fair in July to rave reviews (shown below as well as a close-up of the finish).  The gold lanterns & chavari chairs added a chic touch and we are stoked to see how these will mesh with holiday decor this coming season.  DO NOT wait to order these – fall orders have been pouring and we definitely don’t want you to miss out.

Why should the bride get to have all the fun? Starting out as a well-known Southern staple, the Groom’s cake has evolved into a lifestyle statement for the groom. A tribute to an alma mater, favorite sports team, or favorite hobby, this cake or dessert is a great place to let creativity and personality shine! Whether you chose to share the stage with the regular wedding cake or decide to serve the groom’s cake at the rehearsal dinner, there are many options to choose from. We have a wide variety of dessert displays for rent that are able to serve any of your favorite treats!

Some recent trends include a chocolate decorated cake. Simple and delicious, chocolate gives the option for something darker and more decadent than the traditional white cake. Display your type of cake with one of our small chalk boards to call attention to the unique flavors!

Some grooms prefer to pay homage to a favorite drink or place, as pictured below in a beer bottle cap shaped Groom’s Cake on Style Me Pretty.

Sometimes there isn’t a perfect cake for your groom- so mix it up! We’ve seen many couples choose milk and cookies in lieu of a Groom’s Cake. Honestly, what’s better than cookies and milk as your homemade dessert? Your display options are endless- even shot glasses can be used to serve milk.

Are you more interested in a whimsical and fun dessert display? We had a recent client decide on a Popcorn Bar in lieu of a dessert table. Set at the Nashville Zoo, this dessert idea was created by our friends at Wedding 101 and Camie Occasions. The popcorn was displayed on our Ella Tiered Stand and in our Martini Glasses. To turn this idea into an interactive favor table, goodie bags or Chinese takeout boxes can easily be used for guests to take this treat on the road!

Looking for a fun way to dress up your farm tables? Erin Lee caught some wonderful shots of our rustic farm tables dressed up with our white wood folding chairs, silver poly linens and mercury glass. The bright pop of color given by the flowers and candles brightened up this simple silver and white tablescape. We feel that this gave it a wonderful and easy rustic chic feel, bringing two looks together for a crisp, polished look!

The Red House is one of our favorite venues in Historic Downtown Franklin. With close proximity to Main Street, beautifully restored historic home and lush event lawn, this venue is perfect for any event sized 150 or under! Couples can enjoy full use of the gardens and home for their event, with or without outdoor tenting. At 130 years old, the Red House has historic charm along with modern indoor features that we love. Meishach Moore shot this gorgeous summer wedding at the Red House last summer, showing how the grounds can be utilized inside and out for a wedding. This couple used our Unity Candleabra for their ceremony, White Wooden Folding Chairs, Write On Chalk Boards, and our Light Blue poly linens accented by a Toast poly runner. If the Red House has struck a chord with you, please visit them here!
