We know there will be lots of new brides-to-be this holiday season.  With that in mind, we wanted to highlight an awesome resource available to newly engaged couples.  Wedding 101 has become a Nashville staple for all things wedding – planning, catering, decor, venues, and most importantly – FUN!  And, it’s free 🙂

With a network featuring over 100 of Nashville’s top wedding vendors, Wedding 101 is a fantastic resource for brides and grooms.  Their friendly and knowledgeable staff are readily available with planning and budgeting tips, trends in decor, and all the vendors you need to pull off a fantastic wedding.  They even provide detailed checklists to leave no detail out, no matter how large or small.  With convenient showroom hours Tuesday-Friday from 11am – 7pm, and Saturday from 10am – 4pm, let us remind you that all of their services are FREE.  While we still recommend hiring a wedding planner (and they will say the same), this is a great place to get started and leave feeling confident you are well on your way to your dream wedding.

Making their services even more convenient, Wedding 101 moved downtown to the Gulch area this November! Located at 1108 Division Street, their new showroom is now open on the first level of the ICON building.  You can definitelyfind out lots about our distinct rentals and available services from the lovely ladies at Wedding 101. We are so excited to share the exquisite photos from Josh and Lauren’s simple, rustic wedding. We had the pleasure to work with this Nashville news anchor and his new pediatric nurse wife, and obviously weren’t the only ones who believed the end result of their nuptials was one for the books! Brides magazine also featured the couple’s lovely day here.

The couple gathered their event inspiration straight from their venue. From the bulb lights hanging overhead and their monogram reflected on the dance floor to our farm tables and rustic chalkboard signs, all the details came together truly perfectly. A special thanks to Brighton Photography for their gorgeous photos featured here today!

We are betting many of your landed some pretty amazing deals today – now that you are home with your Black Friday finds, we have an opportunity for you to pass on your good fortune to others.  Southern Events is teaming up with Bright Event Productions for their Month of Giving BRIGHT.  During the month of December, we are collecting donations for four local charities – Safe Harbor, Mending Hearts, Yana House and Noah’s Ark.  Our good friend, Laura Little works with these charities year round and we definitely need to shout out her efforts as well to bring all this together.  These local charities work to help men and women coming out of the corrections system get back on their feet, service women with addictions and help save animals from hoarding situations.  With your donations we can help a lot of people and animals in need!

All donations can be brought to the Southern Events Showroom (101 Alpha Drive, Franklin TN) during our regular hours of operation.  You can also bring donations to Bright Event Productions Nashville Office (712 Rundle Ave, Nashville TN) if that is more convenient for you.  Here’s what we need…

• Blankets
• Towels
• Sheets
• Men’s and Women’s clothing of all kinds (specifically Men’s Winter coats, socks and underwear) – condition is not important on linens or clothes so clean out your closets!

We have long been a fan of CJ’s Off the Square fabulous outdoor garden venue and love working with them on their weddings and events .  Amazingly, they have an opening for a Saturday this coming April 19, 2014 – additionally, couples that book by December 15, 2013 receive $1000 towards their wedding decor.  For this date as well as all their remaining Friday and Sunday openings!   Just think what  you could so with that money in our Vintage Prop Shoppe 🙂

CJ’s Off the Square is an all inclusive, full service venue located off in historic downtown Franklin.   The garden setting is a perfect backdrop for intimate weddings, rehearsal dinners, or social celebrations.  With such a talented team, each event has a distinctly different feel and look – they know how to combine timeless and trendy into simply stunning events again and again.

Yes – we rent chairs, too! Our Chiavari Chairs,  available in four colors – fruitwood, gold, black and white – will add functional elegance to your Thanksgiving celebration. For a more rustic look, our Cross-Back Chairs are a favorite option (as well as being super comfortable).

Thanksgiving tablescapes done easy.  Chargers, china, napkins and more – Southern Events has signature pieces to work with all types of decor.  Our Faux Wood or Belmont Chargers will make a statement out of your place setting.  Heirloom china from our Vintage Prop Shoppe is the perfect dish to serve your family’s heirloom recipes.  Choose a vibrant fall napkin to finish your table (available in over 45 colors as well as specialty linen options) – just make sure to rent a few extra for your bread baskets or food displays to tie the whole look together.

Don’t have enough glassware? Rent anything from water goblets, wine glasses, coffee mugs or barware from our wide selection of glassware (plus we handle all the clean-up!)

Happy Halloween! We here at Southern Events love nothing more than a theme, which is why we decided to gather our favorite gothic-inspired images to celebrate this goul-ish fall holiday. Many of these are favorites from our own past events, while a few of the images have us excited to spice up our personal parties! (A special thank you to Waiting on Martha and Victoria Austin Design for their chic ideas!)

When incorporating gothic inspiration into your own event, less is best. These rich-toned, moody elements are stunning and unique when featured in small doses— but lay the dark on too heavy, and you may scare your guests!

Cadie and Aaron’s wedding took place at a private home in Franklin, TN and was captured by the superbly talented Nashville based wedding photographer, Joe Hendricks. Personal style and sweet accents were in every aspect of the couple’s outdoor country wedding design.  Guests started the celebration in a stunning ceremony space surround by large trees – We especially love the unique pattern of yellow and white rose petals lining the aisle.

The wedding reception hosted in a large tent feature vintage details and yellow and white centerpieces.  The  twine and exposed-bulb chandelier by Nashville Event Lighting cast a perfect glow over the couple as they danced on our New England Plank Hardwood Dance Floor.  Cadie and Aaron’s Wedding was a beautiful start to their happily ever after…

Congrats to another “Southern” couple – we loved working with you both and wish you many happy years ahead!

Delicate, vintage and breathtaking – Jacque and Jon’s wedding at CJ’s Off the Square simply blew us away! One of our most wonderfully talented Nashville photographers, Brandon Chesbro, took the artistic and intimate feel of this garden ceremony and reception to a whole new level with the shots he captured from this couple’s big day.

Caprice and her team at The Enchanted Florist created delicate and colorful centerpieces for the tablescape that highlighted the free and creative spirit of this couple. With a focus on vintage flare, this bride and groom chose to integrate our Farm Tables with lace runners and hanging glass votives throughout the outdoor pavilion.

Moss, burlap and twine accents, and plenty of candlelight set the stage for a beautifully natural set up. We love to see couples that choose to have small and beautiful vintage details in their event, especially the crafty MR and MRS sign details on the bride table. And, best of all, we were thrilled to see this beautiful soiree featured on Style Me Pretty!

Color, whimsy and fun collided beautifully in this style shoot at CJ’s Off the Square, featuring a fun kite theme! A talented local Nashville photography company, The Collection, captured the look and feel of this theme in CJ’s gorgeous garden wedding venue, located in Historic Downtown Franklin.

Some of our favorite rentals featured in this shoot were our White Chiavari Chairs that have a color and texture that works flawlessly with an outdoor garden venue like CJ’s. We also featured our Mini White Wash Farm Table and White Poly Stripe Linens.

For this shoot, an entertaining mix of rich golden yellows, royal purple and teal were used to capture the vibrancy of the whimsical theme. Our favorite part of the event decor was the hanging kite decoration, featuring swirling ribbon and even a few miniature kites handcrafted by planner Anna of Anna Elizabeth Weddings. For the tablescape, our Royal White Square China set off the symmetry of the kite lines ribbon found throughout the event set up! For added texture, we loved the striped paper straws and ribbon wrapped around each cake tier.
